Ichthus main stage schedule
Ichthus is coming up in two weeks, so it’s about time to get the schedule up with a little blurb about each of the bands I am excited about seeing and therefore you should be excited about seeing, too:
Thursday
1:10 p.m. Ron Moore
2 p.m. Helen Musick
3 p.m. Remedy Drive
3:25 p.m. Manic Drive
6:05 p.m. Justin Lookadoo
7:55 p.m. Hawk Nelson – A crowd favorite — I’ve never been a huge fan, but they put on a good show
9:30 p.m. Family Force 5 – One of the best acts to come through Ichthus. They are a party rock band with a killer live show, and having a closing act should take that to a whole other level. Can’t wait to see them.
Friday
11 a.m. Alabaster Box – An Aussie band who has some good stuff. I have had the opportunity to meet them, and you won’t find nicer guys at the festival
12 p.m. Too Many Drummers – My good friend Erik’s band — go support them. They are really original and thoughtful musicians
12:25 p.m. Gritz – Some of the most talented Christian rappers I’ve heard. Looking forward to that show
1:20 p.m. Shane Claiborne
2 p.m. – Me in Motion
3 p.m. – Fireflight – Won all sorts of awards as a breakout band last year — solid rock n roll with pleasing hooks
4:15 p.m. – Stellar Kart
6 p.m. Bob Lenz
7:45 p.m. Kutless
9:20 p.m. Skillet – I would put these guys against any rock band in secular music today. Head banging with thoughtful lyrics and extremely talented musicians. They’re in my top 3 of performers at the festival
Saturday
11 a.m. Brenton Brown
12:15 p.m. Battle for Christ winner
1 p.m. Jon Weece – Want to be inspired? Go hear Jon Weece speak
1:40 p.m. Sanctus Real
2 p.m. Jon Weece again
2:55 p.m. The Afters
4:05 p.m. Art-Music-Justice Tour
5:25 p.m. Phil Keaggy/Ascenxion Band – This is the one show I will drop anything to see. The best musicians in Christian music today, and Keaggy is a legend guitarist. I would pay the day pass price just to see this show (of course I get in for free, so ya know…)
6:45 p.m. Worship All-Star Team – A gathering of the most talented worship leaders in the area
7:05 p.m. Speaker
8:50 p.m. Israel Houghton and the New Breed
10:20 p.m. Delirious? – Oh man, can’t wait. These guys were pioneers of taking Christian music from Amy Grant and Sandy Patti to what we have today. I would submit they are the second-best songwriters in the biz.
There are some notables missing this year. One I’m really disappointed about is Derek Webb, who had originally committed to come, but I hear is in a legal battle with his record label about his new album. If Delirious? are the second-best songwriters in Christian music, Webb is the best. I’m really bummed he won’t be here.
David Crowder, the most thought-provoking and, I think, talented of the Big 4 worship leaders, won’t be at the festival after coming several years in a row. I think he’s working on a new album or something. At least that’s the excuse I’ll go with.
TobyMac is also notably absent this year — rumor has it he was upset after his show last year got canceled because of the Friday night storm and he still had to come to Wilmore in case it cleared up. He is another one of the biggest draws who has helped build the festival’s reputation after he went solo.
Regardless, should be another great weekend of music. Visit www.ichthusfestival.org for ticket information and the schedules of the other stages.
