Asbury College Basketball Camp

To continue what has become Bart Flener month at this blog, here’s a heads-up on his upcoming basketball camp:

The Asbury College Basketball Camp will be held at the Luce Center in Wilmore June 23-26 for boys and girls ages 5-15. You can sign up for either the morning session from 9 a.m. to noon or the all-day session from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The morning session is $75 and the all-day is $125.

Lunch is provided, and campers get a basketball and t-shirt. The camp will be geared toward the improvement of offensive skills with a special emphasis on shooting technique, offensive moves and individual workout strategies.

Should be a great program — I’ve heard whisperings that he’s a pretty good coach. We were laughing today because there is a picture in this week’s Jessamine Journal of some youth soccer team that went undefeated and won its fourth straight championship. The assistant coach not pictured in the photo? Bart Flener. Man, that guy can do anything. Casey said he’s going to push for him to get the Dunbar baseball job, the UK basketball job once Gillispie gets fired and the Cincinnati Reds job when Dusty Baker gets fired. All that after he becomes mayor of Nicholasville and begins as the head cheerleading coach for West Jessamine (see this week’s Journal if you don’t know what I’m talking about).
