Our new jessaminejournal.com Web site gives us writers who are having our creative minds constricted by the confines of the newspaper pages the opportunity to express ourselves through other media. That media is YouTube.

That’s right, YouTube has found its way into the Jessamine Journal newsroom. Want to know about the latest story going on in Nicholasville? YouTube it, baby. I spent four hours today piecing together my first video, and after four iMovie crashes, I finally got my finished product.

I’ll wait until the applause dies down.

Actually, I had a lot of fun doing it. I really did get something out of that Broadcast News class I took at Asbury.

This Jim guy was really cool. He was so laid back and could talk for hours. I took 30 minutes of actual footage and probably got only a fourth of what he said. He talked from the time I stepped out of the car until the time I got back in. He actually talked for about 10 minutes after I had already climbed back inside.

Anyway, that steel work is something I might try to get into down the road. I feel like I can find my way around a woodworking bench, but metal is a whole different animal. You know that stuff will last.
